Market-Ready Interior Repainting & Ceiling Restoration

Project Description:

Complete interior repainting and restoration of a residential property in West Des Moines, Iowa, prepared for listing on the real estate market. The home had extensive water damage across multiple ceilings, several large drywall openings left behind by previous trades during repair work, and walls showing significant wear and surface imperfections throughout the property.

Our scope included repairing damaged ceiling areas, sealing all water stains with BIN shellac-based primer to prevent future bleed-through, patching and restoring cut-out sections, matching the existing ceiling texture, and repainting all ceilings for a clean, uniform appearance. Every wall throughout the home was repaired, sanded, and repainted using Sherwin-Williams Accessible Beige (SW 7036).

The property featured extensive trim work and decorative wainscoting throughout. Special attention was given to achieving clean, consistent cut lines around all millwork by hand, while gaps between the wainscoting and walls were leveled and refined using paintable siliconized caulk to create a more seamless appearance.

The finished result transformed the property into a clean, bright, and market-ready home, helping showcase its full potential to prospective buyers while presenting a well-maintained and professionally updated appearance.

Front Porch Restoration

Project Description:Full restoration of an aging front porch. The existing coating was heavily peeling, with deep wear on the steps and several layers of old paint failing across the entire surface. Our team performed a complete mechanical removal of the loose coating using a Diamabrush system, followed by detailed sanding and cleaning to prepare the wood properly. After restoration of the surface profile, we applied Sherwin-Williams SuperDeck Solid (with SharkGrip additive for slip resistance) to deliver a durable, uniform, and long-lasting finish.

Interior Wall & Ceiling Painting

Project Description:Complete interior repaint of the main living room and upper-level hallway in a home with high vaulted ceilings. The project included repairing wall imperfections, patching previous anchor holes, sanding, priming where necessary, and applying fresh coats of premium Sherwin-Williams paint to both walls and ceilings. Every step, from masking trim to cutting in around tall architectural angles, was executed for a clean, modern, and uniform finish.

Bathroom Ceiling Restoration

Project Description:Full restoration of a bathroom ceiling after popcorn texture removal. The ceiling required extensive surface preparation, including patching all damaged areas, applying a complete skim coat to rebuild a smooth surface, sanding, caulking the transition between the ceiling and the crown molding, priming, and applying two coats of high-quality paint for a clean, moisture-resistant finish. The result is a perfectly leveled, modern, and uniform ceiling.

Deck Restoration & Coating

Project Description:Complete restoration and coating of a weathered exterior deck. The project began with a full wash and surface preparation to remove dirt, mildew, and loose fibers. Once the wood was properly cleaned and dried, we applied Sherwin-Williams Porch & Floor Enamel to all deck boards, stair treads, risers, and railings. The new coating provides a durable, uniform finish designed to withstand heavy foot traffic and harsh Iowa weather.

Basement Room Repainting & Wall Restoration

Project Description:Repainting and restoration of a basement room affected by water infiltration. After the ceiling was repaired by a separate contractor, the walls were left with significant damage, uneven patches, and surface imperfections. Additionally, a masonry/concrete primer had been mistakenly applied by the previous team before the issue was caught and stopped.

Our scope included repairing all wall imperfections with proper patching and skim work, sanding, protecting all wood trim and the built-in shelf with cardboard and masking, and applying two uniform coats of Sherwin-Williams interior paint. Every cut line around windows, trim, and architectural edges received detailed, clean tape work to ensure sharp, flawless results.

Bathroom Repainting & Ceiling Restoration

Project Description:

Complete repainting and restoration of a residential bathroom affected by water damage, peeling paint, staining, and heavy surface sheen from a previous glossy coating. The damaged ceiling areas were properly scraped and stabilized before repairs began, and all loose or failing material was removed to ensure a sound surface prior to refinishing.

The project included full surface priming throughout the bathroom, targeted stain blocking using BIN shellac-based primer over water-damaged areas, detailed wall repairs, and patching where the toilet paper holder had been removed from the wall. Due to the ceiling texture repairs, the entire bathroom was carefully protected with full masking and containment before spray application. Knockdown texture was then reapplied to blend repaired areas into the existing surface profile.

After preparation and restoration were completed, two uniform finish coats of Sherwin-Williams Duration Satin in the color Agreeable Gray were applied across all walls and repaired areas to create a clean, consistent finish throughout the space.

Exterior Warehouse Repainting

Project Description:This project involved the exterior repainting of a large commercial warehouse in Bondurant, IA. The service focused on recoating the upper architectural band — a blue section running along the top perimeter of the building, totaling approximately 10,000 square feet. Because the work area reached up to 70 feet in height, the project required precise planning, advanced safety protocols, and the use of a 70–86 ft telescopic boom lift to access all elevations safely.

All surfaces were painted exclusively by hand, using professional-grade rollers and brushes to ensure maximum control, uniform coverage, and clean, defined edges along the architectural lines. Given the heavy UV exposure in that upper section, we used Sherwin-Williams Duration® Exterior, chosen specifically for its superior durability, color retention, and long-term weather resistance.

In several sections of the building, structural obstructions prevented the lift from reaching the façade. For those areas, the team executed the work from the roof down, painting by hand along the parapet and working downward until transitioning back into the accessible lift range — ensuring a seamless, consistent finish throughout the entire band.

Challenges:The main challenges included operating at extreme heights, maneuvering the lift around tight areas, and completing several sections from the rooftop due to obstructions blocking lift access. Working by hand at 70 feet required exceptional technique, steady control, and strict adherence to fall-protection standards. Maintaining straight, crisp lines along the architectural band — while dealing with wind exposure, sun glare, and height — demanded advanced cut-in skill and careful coordination across all stages of the project.
